Tabasco, Rice, Cemetery’s, blue hair & tattoo’s

This is going to be a catch all. Reflecting the last several days activities.

Avery Island is the home of Tabasco sauce. The tour is very minimal with only a view of the bottling line. We were here a number of years ago and things have really changed. We assume because of the hurricanes.

The pepper mash sits in the barrels for 3 years aging before being mixed with vinegar for 28 more days and than bottled.

From Avery Island we moved on to Konriko rice mill, which is the oldest mill in the USA, over 100 years old. Again the tour is very minimal so I only have some pictures of the outside of the building.

On our way back to Betty’s we stopped at an old, typical Louisiana cemetery. The water table is very high down here and they cannot bury people in the ground. The stone/concrete slabs are to hold the bodies down if there is a hurricane or high water.

Some of the graves have several family members in them and some are in very bad condition while others are very well kept.

The women went out to do laundry the other day, and Linda wanted to stop at a beauty supply store. While there she bought some teal blue hair dye. As usual it started off innocently enough. After happy hour the women came over to do the dye job. When they were done, I said I would do it if Rich did it. Rich said he would do it if Jim C. did it, and poor Tom did not have much choice after that.

Yesterday Linda and I drove down to the coast to see what we could see. Some shrimp boats and some kind of barge thingies. They must drive the pipes down into the ground to hold the boat steady.

I think that kind of catches you up, except for today. Linda, Bobbie, and Terri left to take Walker to the groomer, and to check out a tattoo parlor. At the party Sunday they all decided, while under the influence to get tattoo's.

I know Linda will, but not to sure about the other two.

We should know in a little while.

They are back and all three got one, very small ones.  Terri’s is a very pretty vine/flower design, Bobbie’s is a 5th wheel with the words “We Be Go”  which is sentimental to her and Linda’s is her zodiac sign.

There that catches you up to today…..who knows what the rest of the day will bring

love to all of you dear friends
